Default OB Problems

Marty tried posting this earlier,

He was trying to upgrade stuff last night and the s**T his the fan. Almost lost orchidboard. He was able to rescue most of the stuff, but everything posted after midnight got erased.

Now apparently PM's and new threads get erased soon after being put up. Including Marty's original post.
lets hope this gets fixed soon.

Go Marty

Thanks Tindo,

Yes a bit of turbulence today and a busy day. after a small upgrade to the content management software, things went bad. I had to resort to a backup... wouldn't you know it, the backup had errors on it...damn! On top of it, I couldn't work on this problem when I wanted to, I emailed tech support from the hosting company if they could try to restore the messed up sql dump... after much figuring out and searching forums for solutions, I was finally able to restore the database, everything was back to normal....success at last !!! We're up!... and... then tech support restored the bad database and we were back to square one, hehe...I was soooo pissed, then they told me to read the forums, hehe...here:

open it up and goto line number 181,208. Have you tried posting on the MySQL
forums about this issue to see if anyone there has any recommendations?
Thankfully by that time, I already knew how to fix things up and came back up without a glitch...trouble is that I reverted everything to midnight as that was my most recent backup.

in any case... a lot of trouble and no upgrade I'll try again in a few days

sorry if anyone lost PMs or posts. We lost a few members too in the process, hopefully they will re-join.

Your hard work is greatly appreciated...nothing worse the technology going sour...we applaud you on all your efforts. The OB seems to be running well on my end at least ... good news huh...

Hi, yeah that might happen from time to time. We're sharing hosting with probably 200-400 other hosts on a single machine...I anticipate that if "they" are doing something funky or process intensive, we get slowed down and it takes a bit of time to serve our page...Just hang in there... It's over $100 per month to have a dedicated host... we're not getting that kind of sponsors yet
