I can't speak to all the different attachment ways, because that isn't my bailiwick. I'm the deliverer of a message composed from three moderators conversations regarding all the attachments, Kb's, MG's, Gigs, Terrabytes, or what have you. I know nothing about the difference between a Google Drive and linking from anywhere else.
I do read all the way through posts, and do understand what you were talking about "temporarily" storing then deleting. I have no idea how that plays into the issues you're having. I understand if you hook up an external link, and that link later disappears, the photo is gone from one's thread. I choose my external links wisely because of that.
My sole purpose in responding was to tell you the whys and options based on moderator consensus. So your other comments and advice will need to come from somewhere else. .

Thanks WW. I was only responding to your response - about your mention of 'three different ways' ... and ... 'is unnecessary'.
It was just to provide reasons for my approach - just to make everything clear ----- and that my approach was based on very good reasons.
The situation is like this now that we understand it. I've basically run out of maximum total/accumulated memory for file attachments ----- allocated to each regular OrchidBoard member (70 MB total). Due to me having reached that limit, I can't attach anymore image files, so I can't present anymore new orchid pics by means of file-attachments.
Just as you do ----- I choose my external links wisely too.
The comments you added are very helpful - as it helps with the understanding of the OrchidBoard system, which is a very good system in my opinion.

WW ------- I forgot to add that - it's not an issue/problem as such. I just didn't know what happened. But we understand the situation now.
Also, I appreciated the help of Camille - for helping us to check on the system - especially when she's got a cold right now.

No problem! There's only so much I can do without access to the server itself, but I usually have access to enough information to be able to provide an explanation/answer to questions.
And my cold has now been upgraded to bronchitis....

Good Grief Camille. The momma in me says you're trying to do too much, not resting enough, and not drinking that tea with honey, lemon and a shot of whiskey I recommended. Let's get to it!!

Yes, momma! I'm having a pre dinner beverage. My hot toddy is ready. Though there's very little whisky involved because I only have Scottish single Malt, and it feels criminal to use it this way!
Dinner will be a nice warming pumpkin/squash soup with apple, onion, garlic, curry and ginger.

Camille…. Gooood girl! Momma is proud!
SP… it’s better to use it as a preventative, rather than seeking out illness.

Have you tried the image hosting process I use? I just wonder if that would work for you?
