Default Pogonia japonica

A relative of our native rose pogonia, P. ophioglossoides, P. japonica grows in similar sunny bog conditions. Per the advice of the best bog gardener I know I potted all my Pogonia in live sphagnum. As he says, if you can keep the sphagnum alive, the orchids will just go along for the ride. We'll see. As an aside, when I unpacked the single one of these I ordered, I was greeted with a tangled ball of roots that had about about 10 growth points! There are 6 or 7 in the large pot and 3 in the smaller:

Pogonia don't form tubers, the leaves arise from a very thin rhizome.
