Spiranthes sinensis from Kusamono - 2018

I have seen different Spiranthes species in various places in the wild. I thought I'd try some this year.

Last November I pre-ordered Spiranthes sinensis from Kusamono Gardens. They arrived this week, along with their traveling companions Habenaria radiata and Ponerorchis graminifolia. Kusamono has a beautiful photo of some plants growing in an arranged container garden with what appear to be various grasses. I'm going to try something similar.

Kusamono recommends kanuma or pumice for this plant. From reading about its enormous natural range and habitat, and having seen other species in the wild, I wondered about this. It is a moist growing plant that shouldn't dry out. I'm going to follow advice from Subrosa and use a sandeat mixture, since pumice would dry out too fast here.
