Nice job, keep up the good work. Here is a pic of some Phaius australis from Australia. Closely related to tankervilleae but slightly different shaped flower. Will get pics when they flower in spring.

Nice looking Phaius. I have one with 4/5 pseudo bulbs that was a division from a friend. I see new growth next to existing bulbs but not spikes of flowers. My leaves are turning brown on the ends. What I am doing wrong?
North side of G/H, no direct sun, water once a week or so. Yours so green and healthy looking.

Could be either:

low humidity
Too much water
Chloride and or flouride in the water

Phaius need a freely draining mix and very frequent water during the warmer months. They also appreciate a fair amount of fertiliser during the warmer months (growth season). I keep mine quite shady.On the dry side during the cooler winter months.

I have a few different varieties in my garden (australian phaius) i live in australia. I have both self pollinating plants and non-self pollinating. I've always been interested in phaius. They are very rare here in the wild in australia due to habitat destruction for development, too frequent fire, weed invasion and overcollecting in the past. I like to think i'm contributing toward the surival of the species by propagating and sharing with other growers.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll hear from others. BUT, I live in So Ga so I don't think it's humidity, on the shady side of G/H and only water 7-10 days especially in winter. Maybe soil too heavy, need more drainage. Of course I only got division last fall maybe not adjusted enough.
