Help with Oceceoclades spathulifera

I got this Oececoclades spathulifera around December 12 and placed it in my terrarium at work. It had intermittent light from Dec 21-Jan 2 via T8 fluorescent bulb. When I came back from vacation the leaves had darkened and one of the two leaves fell off. I now have an LED light source and I think it's improving. Can anyone tell me if I should do anything different? I would like to remove it from the pot and maybe plant it in some expanded clay balls....I wanted to ask before it gets too late.....any help is greatly appreciated!

Any chance it got frost damage in transit? This is a fairly bulletproof plant for most people.

I would not cover the pseudobulbs. They normally grow just above leaf litter, with the roots extending into the leaf litter.

It shouldn't stay wet. It should dry out between waterings, or stay barely moist. It might not be the best choice for a wet terrarium. Succulent growers grow among their other part-shade plants. It does fine on a windowsill with no terrarium. The Huntington grows it in straight pumice.

I have a question. What media should be used? Mine has not even grown one leaf since June. When can it be repotted?

It's a warm grower. In Madagascar it grows in a thick layer of dead leaves on top of the ground, or dead leaves on top of irregular piles of rock, so there's good air circulation to the roots. In the wet summer it's always moist, but well aerated. In winter it's pretty dry, but not bone-dry.

I've seen cactus & succulent people grow it in pure pumice; coarse sand; bagged potting soil; and commercial "cactus mix." It should grow strongly in season.

mimigirl, how have you been caring for it? Your summer is pretty much identical to what it gets in Madagascar.

The seller has it in large bark with styrofoam at bottomof pot. I have kept it indoors in bright light and watering once a week. It has not changed, since June, from 2 bulbs with total of 3 leaves. I am wondering if adding a finner bark to the large or even add a little spag would encourage growth. I feed weakly weekly with MSU & kelp. It has such beautiful leaves

I suspect it would dry out fast in large bark. Try fine bark.

Repot in warm weather. LECA might dry out too fast unless it's outside getting a lot of rain. You could try to replicate habitat by partly filling the pot with LECA, and planting it in a 2" / 5cm layer of leaf litter over the LECA.
