I have not grown Oeceoclades spathulifera, but I have grown Oeceoclades calcarata for years which do grow similarly.

Try growing them more like a succulent rather than a tropical orchid. Try using something like diatomite if all else fails.

They grow under pretty bright light. These can be grown as bright as Cattleyas.

This plant grows in Madagscar at the northern tip of the island. This is one of the wettest spots on the island in summer, yet gets no rain during the winter. It is perpetually warm and humid, being within a stone's throw of the tropical sea. It grows in full shade in leaf litter. I would water heavily in summer, but make sure there is plenty of air at the roots. In winter keep it warm and shady, but don't water.

Water less in the winter. Do not withhold water completely. Pseudobulbs will shrivel.
