Habenaria radiata tubers arrived from Kusamono Gardens Male
Default Habenaria radiata tubers arrived from Kusamono Gardens

Last November fishmom forced me to pre-order Habenaria radiata and H. radiata 'Ginga' from Kusamono Gardens (which currently has them in stock, along with other terrestrial orchid tubers.)

They arrived today. I'm putting them into the refrigerator for a few days until I get things together. I'm planning on using small grain pumice and peat moss mixed together 80%:20% and following instructions on the Kusamono Gardens Web site. I will keep them in my sunroom during the summer, where the evaporative cooler keeps things to 80 F / 27C and 70% relative humidity. I don't think they'd survive our summer otherwise.

One photo shows the two 2.5" / 6.25cm across condiment cups holding the tubers in moist sphagnum moss. The other photo shows one tuber, exposed.

I just placed an order myself for the normal variety, along with some Ponerorchis graminifolia and Pogonia japonica. But they're not shipping until 4/3. What makes you so special?

Warmer weather ( I hope ) ? I read the op with horror as I'm not at home and I thought if these were delivered, they would be frozen to my porch.

I pre-ordered last November. I think they deliver at what they consider the best time for planting where the tubers are being shipped.

I have plants shipped to my office.

Yay! Best of luck!

I de-potted my tubers last fall and harvested 9 new tubers. They spent the winter in a baggie in my frig with a bit of moss for moisture. They stayed firm, and I potted them up a couple of weeks ago and have left them in my garage until I see growth. Night temps there have been 40-50 degrees. Here's hoping.

I'm looking for cheap dentata and having no luck. I might have to get radiata instead.

My Spiranthes came from them. They pot them in kanuma now, interesting.

I just wish someone had to force me to order orchids. Then I could blame someone besides myself. What a lovely change that would be.

bethmarie, you need an attitude adjustment. Everybody here is forcing you to buy orchids, if you would only pay attention.
