Default Habenaria carnea

While I have had this for years, I never grew it in full sun until this year. I think that it makes for a much better showing that does not require staking to stop it from flopping over.

Beautifully grown! Can you describe your culture? How do you treat it in the fall/winter? Do you ever let it dry out when it is in growth? when it is dormant?

Thanks for the compliments!

It's grown under a 100 w LED plant light from mid-March to mid-October. During that time it is watered so that it is constantly moist and I fertilize with a urea-free fertilizer weekly at a concentration of 125-150 ppm. Temps are 60F to 85F. When not growing (mid-October to Mid March) it's kept bone dry at about 70F.

You said you grew it in full sun this year...you do mean outside, right? What part of the country do you live? It's gorgeous and could be the first carnea I've seen that doesn't require staking.

My rhodocheilas grow short like that...as does my xanthocheila but my uncinata and gibossa are so leggy and maybe I need to give them more light than the others.

Actually, it's about 12 inches below a 100 w LED plant light which would be the equivalent of full sun outdoors (minus the UV). I'm just north of you in Cleveland.
