I was lucky enough to be in the right spot at the right time...someone I know was getting rid of all of her orchid collection. She has had a lot of AOS awards was a judge for awhile I think. She knows her stuff. Anyway she gave me one that was labeled erica, I can not find that orchid or anything about it on the internet. Is there such an orchid or ???? help please...Jean

Any guess at what genus it is?? There is an Lc. Erica registered in 1915. No pics in OrchidWiz but it is a complex hybrid with a fair bit of dowiana and mossia and 3 other species in it.

Actually as I look further there are several Cattleya type named Erica, a Cym, an Oncidium and a Phal. So is there anything else at all on the tag??

You could also ask her what it is.

As noted, there are several hybrids called Erica in different genera, and many more called ___ Erica or Erica ___, or it could be a cultivar named 'Erica' of any species or hybrid. Even with a picture of plant and flower it might not be possible to say for sure it matches a particular named hybrid. It is also possible it was given to her by someone named Erica. I think you need more information from her to ever be certain.
