Mediocalcar versteegii

I can only comment from experience... for me, they grow under the same conditions - on my patio, so they get winter lows around 4 deg. C (occasionally a little lower) and summer highs mostly below 32 deg C but occasionally higher. I think that M. versteegii needs to be shadier, with its thinner leaves. With M. decoratum, I found that with a bit more light (bright shade with filtered sun for a few hours) I got more flowers. With higher temperatures, I think that with more shading and some extra watering during the day, one could get away with more heat.

Just keep M. versteegii away from where raccoons can reach it... I lost a nice one that was shredded... I have been growing this one for about 2 years. M. decoratum I have had for longer.

Thanks for that, I'll keep it in the shade as it sounds like my current cooler temps shouldn't be an issue.

It's not looking good for him though, I don't think it transitioned as well as agathodaemonis or decoratum from the warmer NSW as the leaves are slowly browning off, maybe a fungus? I've now mounted it on some moss and will spray it with some Physan/Hyclor, I might post a pic.
