Platanthera ciliaris
Default Platanthera ciliaris

I have had this plant from a North Carolina nursery for the last 3 years. This is the first time it has bloomed for me. I grow it in a 50/50 mix of supersphag (NZ sphagnum without the stems) + perlite in a clay pot. It gets near full sun and is kept moist at all times. I fertilize with 125-150 ppm of Michigan State type fertilizer and it is kept in the refrigerator over the winter. Normal household temperatures during the summer.

This one was slow to grow in size too. The first year there were just two leaves; the second year three leaves. It seems to need time to settle itself.

Spectacular!!!! I love the colour and form of the blooms. Great closeup too.
