Bletilla striata
This is a recent purchase. I plan to grow it outdoors for most if not all of the year potted. Anyone know how low temps can go with this?

I have read that they are hardy to zone 5. They should be mulched if temps are below freezing for long periods.
I hope some members who grow these in gardens in colder areas will have advice and tips for you!

I'm going to keep it potted so I can move I doors when needed. I assume it's good down to about 30. Thanks!

If you find you need to winter them indoors, you can treat them like any other bulb. I put my Pleiones in the refrigerator last winter and that worked well.

Have had mine planted out in the garden for 25 years. Winters down to 0°F and colder. Transplanted several times. They are tough.

I plant to leave mine outside all summer, our summers are up to 100 deg. I can update on how it does.

I had them planted outside close to the foundation of my old greenhouse on the south side. The ground received thermal energy from the electric heat pipes inside. Summer heights must have been close to 40-45°C in the air, and winter lows in cold nights close to -20°C (below zero). Over the years in a sandy soil the plant develloped well over hundred leads and spikes.
