Default Galeottia fimbriata

Got this at the second orchid show of the season in December unfortunately the last show of the season is in a month

The tag said it was a Galeottia negrensis, found out after it finally bloomed, which seemed to take forever, that it is actually the Galeottia fimbriata, now confirmed by the grower, what ever it is who cares this is a real BEAUTY!

Jean,
Thanks! I would agree with you, the grower was willing to send me a true Galeottia negrensis as a replacement I told her I would take the one she was offering but not as a replacement that I was going to pay for it, they are well worth the $25.00 each they cost.

Beautiful!

Are the blooms long lived? How are you growing this?

That is really cool. It was so nice of her to want to give you another one and so nice of you to decline. It gives me hope in man kind.

Tommy, I had never seen this before either, in fact when I bought it I had no idea what it would look like until I got home to check it out, I am very glad that I purchased this and want more of the Galeottia species.

Katrina, I have no idea how long the blooms will last, I hope for a long time, but then I have another pseudobulb growing now that I hope will give me more blooms this spring. Will let you know later how long the blooms last.

I have this in the area of my orchid shed where I get less light then the other area's, once the blooms have finished for the year I will be repotting this into a basket.

No-Pro-mwa, Thanks, I could not let her do that as it was a mistake that the tag was put on the wrong species, let's face it we all make mistakes.
