Default vanilla fever

hi all!!! I've gotten the vanilla orchid fever. I found a great source of vanillas here in South Africa. he supplier sell's the following,= V. planifolia, V. pompon?, V. polylepis and V. roscheri.

I already have a planifolia variegate, and I was thinking of getting V. roscheri and V. polylepis.

to the one thing is how the heck should I grow them the same as V. planifolia? what potting mix, I use bark, potting soil and peat for Planifolia he loves it?

they already come rooted so not to hard getting them to grow.

photos of his plants,=

Photo 1: V. planifolia
Photo 2: V. pompona?, is it really pompona it has a question mark
Photo 3: V. polylepis
Photo 4: V. roscheri

Oh how I wish I could grow vanilla in the Bay Area... one day... when I get a greenhouse...

Usually never see vanilla outside of planifola here. I'm curious to see how the beans from other species taste!

Why not. If you can grow them then get them all hehehhee. I wonder if they taste different also. Very neat.

Hey!! Little Martian!!
Too late, I've already taken power of this thread, mwahahahaha

The substrate should do, it's more the traditional used in Europe. Myself I've switched to a mix coco chips based with enough other things to aerate. (coco/bark/cork/leca/perlite)

I tend to keep the aphylle vanilla drier.

The only pods that are really edible are planifolia, pompona and Tahitensis. And the one that is said to taste the best is the planifolia, the pompona has a less strong flavour. I have no idea what the Tahitensis tastes like, i read somewhere that it is a natural hybrid between planifolia and pompona.
