I buy and buy and buy without knowing how to care for my new plants. I have bought various disidous terrestrials, I don't know how to care for them in winter. I have a bletilla striata who's pot I only put in a corner in the greenhouse where it can't get water, and leave it till it comes up in summer then start watering. Can i do the same with my eulophia quineensis? I also have a cynorkis fastigiata, should I do the same as above or should I repot and then store the tubers in the open? Or place it back I into a pot?
Does phaius joan hart die back in winter?

Good question. I wish that I had an answer. For me, the small tubers like Ophrys and some Orchis need an occasional spray of water during dormancy to prevent desiccation. My Habenarias, Pecteilis, Thelymitras, Diuris, and Cynorkis gibbosa are fine without any water during dormancy. All of my Cypripediums are placed in a plastic bag in the refrigerator after I moisten the potting medium so as to keep them moist all winter long.

I don't know if this is helpful because I'm sure that it varies with your microclimate.
