I looked in OrchidWiz and the awarded plants average about 2.5 cm, which is approx. an inch wide. So its strange that yours are so small. Quite often a first bloom does produce smaller and less blooms and based on pics in OW, this will get lovely large sprays of many small flowers. I'm sure it will improve in time. Maybe it was forced to bloom this time as it looks like a pretty small plant.

Thanks , Silken, yes, the plant is very small and I wouldn't be surprised if it's a first bloom. I do think this spring I want to move it into pot culture because I have to water it every day. Sometimes I skip a day, but it dries out very quickly, the roots turn white and the moss is dry before the day is out.

The flowers are very small on Lava burst but I think you will get more of them on each spike as the plant get's bigger.

I bought one recently that had almost finished flowering, it's a small plant (though bigger than yours) and it had four spikes with 6-8 flowers on each spike. I've seen pictures of ones with lovely long sprays of flowers and I think that's what it will do as it get's bigger.
