Default Liparis rhombea in bloom - surprise!

I got this one for $5 at an OS auction last summer. (I seem to have a tendency to get the ones no one else wants, but I like the "unusual" ones )

It was and is a bit sad looking; so I was very surprised to see a spike and then flowers. I'm hoping this isn't a "death blooming"!

I'm growing this in a net pot with chunky bark mix. Lots of water and fast drying. My other Liparis seems to enjoy this treatment, so this guys got it too.

It's hard to take good l=pictures of such tiny flowers, so apologies in advance for the poor photos.

Here is the entire plant. As I said, a bit sad looking. Hopefully new growth will come in more vigorously. I don't think it will get much bigger than this as Jay Pfahl's Internet Orchid Species Encyclopedia (IOSPE) describes it as small growing.

Well…fortunately you know how to grow Liparis, and they are for the most part, a genera of orchids that don't grow ridiculously slow.

I'm sure it'll bounce back and become a specimen plant in no time.
