Morning everyone I have a little problem with My Macodes Petola . It's been cold here in Michigan for the past few days , Thursday day and Friday night the temp went down to 45 deg. and this morning this plant don't look so good . I think the unnatural cold did it in . Is there any hope to bring it back, or can I take cuttings and start all over again ? Here it is give it a look and tell me what... James L
Macodes is quite the prima donna, IME, James. Don't feel too bad. How long have you had the plant?
Your issue might be one of humidity ... or the lack there of to be more exact. Macodes tends to prefer things more on the humid side (50% or better).
The media should not be soggy but kept lightly moist. Do not let it completely dry out -- it will have a total hissy cow if you do and may go into a death spiral.
Thank you Paul; Macodes Pet... Suffered a complete hissy cow. Which isn't to bad I have had it for 3 years. so . The plant completely melted at the base near the pot, so I think being cold and damp helped it to go down... I took cutting of it hoping to re root them , and put a dome over them. The cut off bottom of a large pop bottle. The same thing I use in the winter now it will live under a dome for a long time and no more out side...Thanks again.. JamesL
