Chysis addita
This is a relatively recently described species from Mexico. I purchased mine more than two decades ago, mislabeled.
It's a real rascal, as flowers do immediately self-pollinate. They must be cut away in order to prevent the vigor from going into seed production.
Only under cool conditions there is a chance to see fully opened flowers, which then may last longer. In the warm summer days I brought the plant too late into the basement, and took the pictures 3 days later from of the last flower out of two spikes.

I've never seen this species before. If you were to pull out the pollinia as soon as the flower opened, would the flowers last longer? Or would they shrivel up right away like Catasetinae?

Fantastic! I really like Chysis; I find it interesting that we do not see them more often in people's collections.

Good idea. I've never tried.

That's a new one to me too. I love the depth of color...like an aurea but much deeper and darker. VERY NICE! As a matter of fact, I think I like it better than aurea.

I love Chysis! Such intricate and bright flowers. I only have 1 right now but I definitely need to expand my collection

So do I. Chysis definitely deserve more recognition. This spring I made 3 crosses.
