the AOS is useful for guidelines only. I prefer first-hand experience - for example I had my habenaria lindleyana in a cymbidium-type pot, which is long and narrow. I can't say it did any better than the medusa. In fact I have 3 plants from 1. The lindleyana I still have 1.

Very nice thread documenting their growth! So you dug up in March and kept in the plastic bag until June? Room temperature, or did it experience colder temp?

I suppose 'overwintered' is the wrong word to have used as it wasn't Winter at all - during dormancy all the tubers were in a bag of slightly moist-to-dry sphagnum moss. The ziploc bag was loosely sealed and clipped to the side of one of my plant stands with a butterfly clip. Room temperature throughout dormancy - so a minimum of 70f.
This treatment seems to have worked, we'll see...

growths are about 2 inches tall......so far so good. I am going to place them outside later this week when lows are in the 60's.

update. 2 out of the 3 bulbs are now spiking.
hmmm. I looked back on this thread. Previous blooming was around 21 October, so it looks like this schedule is going to be met.

foliage has died down and I have unpotted the bulbs. 3 bulbs now 4- all good-sized, slow but sure propagation. Now the dormancy until around end-May.
I'm not going to bag them this time around, just leave them all in a pot, bare rooted. I'm trying this to see if it helps them break dormancy earlier as I noticed a few at Orchid Shows that were growing/blooming well before mine.

So you didn't post a pic of them blooming this time. Glad there doing well.

I potted into a single pot, changed the mix ( primarily organic potting soil - lots of fungus gnats ! ) and put them outside earlier. Wow, what a difference in that they are sturdier and greener. They love it outdoors.
