Malaxis latifolia Male
Default Malaxis latifolia

Malaxis latifolia ia a native species here in Taiwan. The plant looks like Calanthe species and often, it could be found in bamboo forests.
The plant is leafless in the winter. While the temperature gets warms in spring, the new growth grows quickly and then it blooms in early summer.

Nice!

I've seen these in person, and they are beautiful.

Divisions or keikis, not seedlings. The sellers in the US most likely purchased from a foreign wholesaler that sold nursery propagated plants that originated from wild collected stock. No one here breeds these. They don't sell very well here. Not a lot of people know what they really are, because to the casual grower, they don't look like an orchid.
