Ponerorchis graminifolia help please - Orchid Board

Question, for anyone growing Ponerorchis, I have this Ponerorchis graminifolia, it did grow nice 2 leaves earlier in spring but now for past month nothing is happening. This is my very first one, I just got tuber last year, kept in fridge over the winter and potted in March. I just want to know if it gave up and won't grow and spike in Florida, or if there is still chance it will give me spike this year? Many thanks for looking at this.

If the tuberoid hasn't rotted out, your plant should be ok.

They naturally come from limestone hills. A bit of calcium wouldn't hurt.

Gently pull upwards on one of the leaves, and see if it's still attached to the tuberoid.

I wouldn't knock it out of the pot now. It could really stress the plant out.

I think that it might be fine though.

Btw, you can get clay pots that are smaller than the plastic one you're using, and they are fully functional. You can find some at Michael's or OSH.

Have a bit of patience....this orchid plant like a long growing season from late April to late October. Just remember we both were worried why it still have not sprouted and it was spring already....feed it fertilizer weakly every other week, until September and then back off. By mid November they should be dormant.
This plant is one of Japan’s natural jewels. To appreciate them you have to get close to get a good look since they are true miniatures. The range of colors and forms that have been bred these days is beyond belief – a far cry from the wild forms. Considering they are terrestrial orchids, they have proven to be fairly straightforward in cultivation – not a common trait with this group of plants.

Thanks Philip, there is dolomite powder in the mix (the same like limestone powder), so it should have supply needed. The leaves are still attached everything looks healthy:-) we shall see

Thanks Bud, I have all the patience in the world:-) I am just checking if it is ok and normal, you know, everyone told me I wold not be even able to grow this one here in Florida, and look, it is growing, so I will continue what I am doing, spike or no spike. I heard that sometimes they may grow leaves and not spike, and will go dormant, than they may bloom next spring, we shall see! I would love to see the pics of you plants, if you have some:-)

both of the ones you gave me have now sprouted and I don't know if I have a spike on one of them or just another leaf....

Awesome Bud, I hope it is a spike, I really wanna see these bloom! You keep little water on the bottom for higher humidity?

Yes, it is a mini terrarium with colored glass pebbles level with water so I do not have to worry about moss and algae formation....it is indoors and I have humidity issues in my apartment due to the AC....

Great way to grow, I love using glass orbs, vases and bowls for growing. Will see how much luck I will have with Corybas:-) Can;t wait for the blooming pics Bud, hope they will both spike for you!
