Default Rhyncostylis gigantea var. alba???

I bought a Rhuncostilis gigantea var. alba, not in bloom. I still dont know how to post pics except in my gallery. Anyway it kinda looks like a Phal with the leaves, but this is another orchid I am absolutely not familiar with. Any tips or info?

Rhynchostylis gigantea is a member of the vandaceous alliance. 'var alba' refers to the color of this species. Flowers appear as clusters; usually fragrant.

Hi Talice,
Rhyncostyllis gigantea is related to Vandas and should be grown under similar conditions. My experience is however that they are a bit more phlegmatic and quite slow if not very happy. Your plant looks probably like the one on the right side of the picture. That's my 'alba'

in flowers, it should look like:

or like this but in white :

This link has some interesting information about its culture

as for posting pictures, you can just go to your gallery, open the picture you want to post, and copz the "Linked Thumbnail:" below it. Then just paste it in the text of your message and ready

Here is my rhyno gig.

(I'm new here, apologies for the large pic)

Mine has immense (relative to the size of the foliage) very hard woody roots.

Wow! I wonder how long mine will take to look like those? Anyway, all my vandas are in wooden baskets with little to no mix. Should I take it out of the spagnum and grow it like the others?

Very easy plant to grow. I can't seem to keep mine growing in a container for very long, because the thick roots push the plant right out.

Good luck with your Rhychostylis.
