This is another plant I got two years ago from a group order placed by members of this form. It grew well the first year and bloomed for the first time this year. It opened yesterday for the first time and today is its second day. It only opens for a few hours in the mid-day. I'm hoping that the rest of the buds open too and create a display like I see when it is photographed in the wild. I grow it is 100% seramis; give it full sun with a 100 W LED light 3 feet away from the fixture; temps are about 75F day time and 60 F at night in the winter when growing and 80F plus in the summer; I keep it moist in the winter (fertilizing with 125-150 ppm of a urea-free fertilizer weekly when growing) and hot and dry in the summer. I keep it indoors year-round.

Very, very nice! Do you have access to another plant to pollinate it? From what I gather Thelymitras are considered pretty easy to grow from seed.

No, I do not. I have a megacalyptra but it has not bloomed.

The flowers are self-fertile so there's no need use a second plant to pollinate the flowers.

This is one of the "larger" Thelymitras.

Good growing.

Jay, if you're interested in doing another small group order from Dr. Beyrle with me this year, you're more than welcome any time.

Btw, anyone growing these outdoors should beware of snails and slugs. They will destroy these in a heartbeat.
