Oberonia setigera!!!! Very unique looking!!!

Glad to read from others about Oberonia culture. Have had 1 mounted about 3 yrs but has been in decline-no flowers and only 2 fans.So I'll do the pot thing too. But luckily my Lockhartia which is potted has braids 12-16" long. Both are unusual but it's clear which one likes my culture the best!

So you have Lockhartia potted and is doing well?!
Mine is on Epiweb, has lots of new growths, not very long though and does not flower very well (according to what I see in the net..). Perhaps it's time to try something new.
The Oberonia is growing inside a terrarium with high humidity and temps from 18 - in winter- to32 in summer.

Resurrecting an old thread. If you all are still here, I hope you can give an update on this plant and other Oberonia mentioned. I find this genus very fascinating and appealing.

The sickly one went into fast decline and died. The setigera did great and then late 2015/early 2016 it had overgrown it's wee-pot so I repotted it and it went into swift decline and died a short time later. I was very careful with the roots and didn't damage any...went into same set up but slightly larger and it just didn't appreciate the move, I guess.

I haven't tried any more but if I do, I will likely mount so I never have to disturb it.

setigera is a fickle species. I was down to one last pretty well growing plant, but got one more from Louisiana. The one that is doing quite well is growing intermediate in a pad of sphagnum on top of bark. Growths are more or less horizontal. Flowers in early spring.

Setigera positively does NOT like warm temperatures. Cool seems to be ok, but intermediate is best in my experience.

Occasionally O. rufilabris is mislabled as setigera, but the long floral bracts are a sure give away for setigera.
