It's a Mediocalcar decoratum. Here's what it looks like in bloom...

That's awesome!!!

Don't worry about the hubby...when he asks if it's ever going to stop, be totally honest with a resounding NO!

Default I have one like it, but it has not bloomed

Acutally he's outside trying to figure out how we're going to fit it into our REALLY small hothouse for the cold weather coming Monday night...UGH!!!

The one I've purchased (and I won't say for how much...shameful!) is COVERED in buds...I hope I can get it to re-bloom next season!

Irph and Charm, I'd like to introduce you to a terrific orchid reference that I use all the time to look up orchid species - It's Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia or as we affectionately call it - Jay's - Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia
All you have to do is either chose from the alphabetical list for an orchid species or type in the name in the search and waaah laaa .. you get the orchid of your choice and it's explanation and culture ..
I looked up Mediocalcar decoratum to see the flowers close up and lo and behold it came up as little candy corn colored puffer fish shaped beauties - IOSPE PHOTOS
I use Jay's constantly and hope it will be a useful tool for the both of you
Cheers!

I fell in love with this plant when my Mother brought hers home...over the years, hers has become huge and flowers for her regularly.

Default Dorothy, I also use Jay's. If it is a

hybrid, or if I want more detail about a plant, I have OrchidWiz, and I use that.
