Default Saving a Caladenia orchid - Conservation article

Rare and really interesting orchid nearly at extinction. It lives about 20 minutes from me and apparently it's being monitored closely by camera, only two left that are known of. It disappeared in 1927 and then was rediscovered a few years ago but only the two plants remain. In the article they have mentioned its location as east of Melbourne but in fact it's west. I guess they are trying to throw people off the path and I don't blame them as we can't afford to lose this one. It's a beauty.

Oh wow!

Glad there are a couple hanging in there - sad and scary that there are only a couple.

Hope they can be preserved and propagate!

That is so sad that it comes down to only two plants between that species and extinction. People should have been taking more care of it once its numbers started declining.

Wow, 2 plants only, that's is sad, let's hope they can save them, and also grow some more from the seeds.

Actually the plant was thought to be extinct in 1927 and wasn't seen again until only a few years ago (I think 2009) so people didn't think there would be any left. Unfortunately 2 plants are only known to exist so hopefully they can build up the numbers.
