Got this from by the side of a deserted mining pool in ipoh Malaysia.
Known as the Kinta weed
This orchid is planted with soil and sand.opens throughout the year with spectacular flowers
They also call it a Bamboo orchid in Hawaii. It grows there wild as well although I don't believe it is native there. It is considered an invasive species. I bought a small cutting when I was there last year. Mine is still growing, but I am keeping in a pot with chopped peat moss mixture. I am looking forward to it blooming like yours - gorgeous blooms!
I believe this orchid would grow slower in the US because it grows faster in tropical countries such as where i live in Malaysia.
I am very satisfied with this orchid as it blooms almost everyday to help be reduce stress while waiting for other orchids to bloom.
By the way thanks for the compliment
