This terrestrial orchid grows rapidly.
I started recording the growing rate of the inflorescent on 7/16 at 8.5 inches. It grows an average of 2 inches a day. My measurement today (7/29) is at 32 inches. The spike began branching at 30 inches. It now has a neighboring spike about 2 inches tall.
I like how incredible tall it grows. When I bought it, at the end of May, it was flowering at 7.8 feet high. During transport roughly 6 inches of buds were broken off.
The flowers are small green and pink clusters.
It is a planting of nine pseudobulbs. I simply let it be, then, after the ninth bulb matured, a spike popped out. It puzzled me - I thought it to be another growth.
