Amazing pictures Bud, and gorgeous plant! I keep mine outside in the shaded spot under dracema tree and it has actually 2 spikes growing, but my plant is small, I just got it in November, so I am very surprised it is even spiking, seller told me it is at least year away from blooming size:-)

Thanks, Tommy!
If you looked at my very first posting, it was merely six inches plant, yet it bloomed....this orchid plant is treated as a houseplant by many who don't know that it is a terrestrial orchid that grows in the ground....

Thank You, Jerry!
Nope, this is not a popularity contest....this plant is a common house plant; it is not even rare....but majority of the members have this kind and they are just thrilled to follow the progress of this particular one....

If you look at the latest blooms I got seven spikes but the beautiful leaves dwindled....so I will follow your method of cutting some of the spikes to gain thicker foliage....

It is becoming a specimen to think it just started with five stems.

Just for information, this plant can be successfully grown in water alone. Also, when a growth appears to be getting to long and leggy, it can be cut into about two inch sections and rooted to give you a nice full look.

I have four stems of it shoved in a glass of water and I keep meaning to pot them up, but they are doing just fine in there for about 6 months now. One of the stems is even flowering
My intention was just to root some broken off pieces in the water, but I've not got around to potting them up since then.

I have one long broken stem that was in bud, a few days after and the flowers opened and is still in bloom in a glass of water. After the flowers wilt, I will follow Jerry's advice and cut them into 2 inches pieces and repot....I might get them specimen sized sooner.
