I started from a tuber and it's in straight bark in a clay pot that sits always in about a half inch of water to keep the humidity up.

Thanks! I was considering bark + moss, or a terrestrial mix, but I hear rot can be an issue for these. Looking forward to pics of your final bloom!

and they finally started to open
It takes almost 72 hours from when the bud finally cracks open till the red shows and the filaments straighten and align.

thanks everyone for the comments. There are 16 seperate buds on it so now to hope for an increase in the number of tubers hen it dies back.
