Calanthe triplicata
Two spikes, this one just starting to open. The other spike is a few weeks behind, so I expect to have flowers for a couple months at least.
In larger plants, the spikes can reach 7 feet, with dozens of flowers.

it doesn't seem to have a fragrance, but I think it makes up for that with the floral display.

yes it's one of the most widespread species of terrestrial orchid, found from eastern Africa as far east as Japan, and as far south as Australia. This particular variety is originally from China, and is available from Andy's Orchids.

That's amazing, mine don't normally flower until late fall early winter. Does yours always bloom at this time of the year?
