I think Calypso chose me. Actually I do have bletilla striata because people keep giving me them because they resemble Calypso. I was walking in the woods here one day and came across many happy colonies of blooming calypso. I realized I didn't know anything about the plant and began months of web searching and collecting information and observing my plants. I was seduced by the lack of information and the lack of any sustainable verifiable seed source and of course there is no source for nursery grown plants. I also started a campaign to educate people about the perils of poaching and supporting poachers. I have a website
The Calypso Orchid Company, Mendocino County California and a blog with links to it on the website. Yes, research, conservation and seed!
