Wow, such great spikes.

Mine grew through last year. Then when I tried to repot it fell into three pieces (it might have been three in the pot to begin with to be honest) and I've potted each up seperately. Each of them was growing new shoots everywhere but no sign of flowers.

Interesting about drying them out to get flowers. I will have to try that next year.

If they broke apart, it was over watered when you were trying to pot them. They do become very swollen and brittle!

Thanks for the tip I'll remember that. I'm not sure if the pieces were actually seperate anyway though in this case. I could not see an actual point they had broken at.

It was bought as three upright sections coming out of one pot. Having watched the growth habit for the last year I know they could have been connected down below, but all I saw was intertwined roots and I think it might have been three 'cuttings'. Each of those three now has lots of other shoots from both above and below the soil level.

It's such a cool orchid this one, nothing like most of the others.

It is a good starter orchid, because of the fact that it likes it a bit dry, and it is good for more advanced people too since it has different growing habits from all the others!
