I've noticed the same with mine, it thrives on moderate neglect. No blooms on it, it's still a little plant! So it's nice to be able to enjoy photos of your blooms.

That ludisia not only blooms for you, but it goes wild! The leaves on this orchid are quite remarkable also. I will be on the look out for one of these also. AL

Thank you!
The interesting thing is that just before the leaves fall, they turn burgundy in color! Also it looses the leaves in pairs...... When the plant looses its leaves, a few weeks later I end up with a bunch of new baby plants. it is an interesting cycle, flowers, falling leaves, baby plants. I will try to take some pictures tomorrow since the color change on the leaves have started already.

My problem is I don't know how to administer moderate neglect. I am a futzer. How do I curb that habit?

Jonada; I hope you do not mind me jumping in. I am something of a futzer to you see. It's hard to change these habits, but this may help over the long haul. If you have not already, try purchasing orchids that need more watering and care, like Vanda types or Gongoras which like staying moist. Some plants like fuss! Keep more mounted orchids, which saves room and are hard to over water. Then prioritize your 'fussy orchids' giving them care first each day and it should be easier to benignly neglect others more. Those with more experience than me have basically told me to give some orchids much less water, fertilizer etc. this time of year and stand back and wait for results in spring/ summer! I believe now they are correct. I really hope this helps! AL

Thank you!
Jonada just put the discolor in a room where there is not much traffic. Such as a kids room, do not worry they will not take care of it for you!
