It'll work, most definitely, without a doubt.

Just gotta keep your eye on it and water it before it dries out.

Like I said, I grew it outdoors without cover, and it grew just fine. I just couldn't keep up with the watering.

Ok I have taken it out of the cube and have just been keeping it moist. The leaf has been gone for at least a week or two. Should I unpot it now to see how many tubers I have?

If you unpot, you gotta be really careful. The tubers are extremely tiny. It's best to have a magnifying glass or a jeweler's loupe handy.

Just to update this thread, it looks like my plant is beginning to come out of dormancy. I see a nub growing upwards and something fuzzy growing downwards (looks to be a root surrounded by root hairs).

Philip- any news on yours?

This has successfully been brought out of dormancy and is now actively growing

Looks like a lot of water sitting on top of the sphag... I assume you only just watered when you took the pic. Not sure it would appreciate sitting in that all the time.

I only water once per growing season. The wet green stuff on top of the sphag is algae or something that is eventually overtaken by a small moss species.

Man, I never even knew you asked me this.

This is 2-3 years too late, but this never made it for me.

I had been playing around with how to grow this, and ended up growing it too dry. It never recovered.

This orchid should really be grown consistently moist with high humidity.
