Barlia robertiana Male
Default Barlia robertiana

Barlia robertiana (Loisel.) Greuter, Boissiera 13: 192 (1967).

This is a native orchid here in Portugal. we have it in many places, but this photo is from Serra da Arrábida, south of lisbon.

This is a big one for a european orchid. The entire plant can reach 80 cm, but usually less.

It blooms between February and April.

Never heard of this genus...looks to be related to Dactylorhiza. Thanks for sharing!

It's hard to say, but they are even more related to Ophrys, Serapias and Anacamptis. But they all (including Dactylorhiza) belong to orchidinae.

And you can see species of all of these in Portugal (and around mediterranean countries and elsewhere in europe)
