General question concerning growing Phaius'

Beautiful! Mine had three spikes this year, but I thought each base would produce two spikes. Am I wrong about that assumption? Do they sometimes only produce one spike?

Last year when I bought my Phaius, it had 5 spikes, so, one pbulb evidently had only one spike. This year it has 8 spikes but I haven't counted the pbulbs to see just how the spikes are distributed. They did not all emerge at the very same time. I kept discovering new spikes from time to time.

Mine is on it's last few flowers right now, the rest are spent. It has been quite the show for the past month and a half to two months.

Well Paul, you piqued my curiosity so I counted the spikes today. One pbulb had one spike, 2 had 2 spikes each and the other one had 3 spikes. So, the Phaius doesn't recognize any rules apparently.
