Hi
I know I have been off the forum for a bit, but heres something new. Spathoglottis hardingiana from Thailand.
I have succeeded in getting my one plant of this Spathoglottis to spike and it is only a day or two from opening. It is rare even here in Thailand as it is a cooler growing species. I have it in my wardian case at 23c constantly and 90% humidity. It seems to love it and is in live moss.
I will self it and I expect they take the same time as all spathos - 30 to 45 days. I will send seed to the Troy Meyers seed bank and
Terrestrial Orchids seed bank if it takes and I pray we get it to grow in flask as it took me 2 years just to find one plant. Locals tend to treat it like all Spathos - they grow it hot. Well thats a death wish for this species. As far as I know, it is from very humid, almost cloud forest areas in Thailand.
This species is very delicate in growth compared to hot growers such as plicata.
I will post bloom pics as it opens.
