I've had this plant for 5+ years since I purchased it a seedling from a now defunct orchid nursery. This is its first bloom. The plant's a tall one (at least by my standards) measuring 28 1/2 inches from the soil surface to the top of the flowers.

Not since it matured. It was a slow growing seedling. I grow it like Habenaria rhodocheila. It really became robust once I moved it to a mix of worm castings, perlite and supersphag.

I think the main thing with this species and a lot of the SE Asian Habenaria is when they are dormant, keep them very dry, just a sniff of moisture now and then.

When in growth, water well, but avoid the crown of the leaves. In the wild they get down to about 10c in some areas I think, but I may be a little off. I know in Bangkok, we dont get any lower than 16c.

I think they are not hard to grow, but they dont like moisture when dormant for sure.

I have seen them grown in coconut mulch; soil; pure spaghnum. Just about anything as long as it drains well, but keeps moist when in growth and is ok to dry when dormant.

I have some seed if anyone is interested and also Troy Meyers lab has my seed in flask with germination.
