Damian, that's not a bad idea, never really thought of changing to a different medium noting these came from two different vendors both in sphag and in my reading they like to stay moist, but not much drainage with the current medium, lessened the watering and it seems to not make much of a difference but it is showing new growth and babies...which is a good thing .

I grow mine in pure sphag, and in a terrestrial mix. I mix about 3 parts promix to 1 part fine orchid bark (with charcoal and perlite). When using sphag, it shouldnt be packed in real tight. That leads to rot. Stays too wet for too long. They do like warm, humid conditions and pretty low light. Did it get cold in shipping? Looks like it is reacting a shock of some sorts (too cool or too dry)

Ive put mine in or under large jars (the really big bulk size pickle jars from the grocery) during the cooler / dryer winter months to increase humidity. If you like pickles, its a great excuse to by such a large jar of them. They are cheap too.

Mine is in 100% sphag and is doing well so far. I don't water it very often. In my terr, the Mac's sphag seems to stay lightly moist for quite a while.

I think this species has the best foliage out there in orchids. Congrats!

Paul, that is a very lush healthy looking plant you've got there

How long have you had it for?

I have a seedling in bark, with under 10 leaves, the lower ones also look a little on the floppy side.

Maybe it needs more water.. but I'm going to leave it alone for now because it has three flower buds on it.
