Default spike r new lead on Phaius ....anyone know

My Phaius has put out new growths....I assumed they are spikes. Now I am starting to wonder I never really paid attention before to how the nw leas developed I just left her alone pretty much at a friends house where I keep a lot of my chids.

this year I have what I assumed are flower spikes but I have never saw a picture of a spike while they are still just inches tall and wnder if I am mistaken.the spikes on mine are still very very pointed at the tips and not blunt or rounded at all......ar the spikes blunt and rounded or are they actually pointy.

Does anyone have a picture of a new spike still only 3 or 4 inches tall to give me a clue?
