Habenaria carnea, rhodocheila and Regnieri Male
Default Habenaria carnea, rhodocheila and Regnieri

Waited a long time to get the carnea. The rhodocheila is 'Nuuanu'.

Together, these two make the hybrid Regnieri:

Wow, those are fantastic, and really interesting to see both the parents and the child.

They're 2 different species.

The pink one is Habenaria carnea. Habenaria carnea has olive green leaves and white spotting as a blooming sized adult plant.

The red one is the red type of Habenaria rhodocheila. This species doesn't have spotting.

Those are amazing! If I've seen these before they didn't leave much impression, but yours are gorgeous! What are the growing conditions for these?

I believe Rosie was referring to the two different species as the parents, and the hybrid Regnieri as the child. Common enough terminology.

Oh, and Bayard, since "the King" was kind enough to mention the foliage, I would love to see photos of the leaves if you have them. I really like orchids with attractive flowers AND leaves!

Oh...didn't see the hybrid Ragnieri.

Apologies, Rosie.

Thanks for the comments!

Evan - I grow these in Promix (peat/perlite) in clay pots. I let them dry off after flowering, and leave them quite dry when the foliage is dead. When growth shows in Spring, they get potted in fresh mix. The top photo shows the leaf pattern of Hab. rhodocheila pretty well. The Orange form of Hab. rhodocheila has more of a copper color, but my favorite is Hab. carnea:
