Ludisia discolor in nature is a lithophyte on rocks that are near or on streams and rivers with moss and a bit of leaf litter covering them.
This is most likely why an open airy media of bark and perlite works well to have the roots attach.
The roots are very few short, and grow along the rhizome.
Ludisia discolor is not a true terrestrial.
They bloom in the winter months.
Grow in shade or bright shade.
Allow the media to become damp, then water again. Don't allow them to go bone dry.
