I picked up some Brachycorythis Helferi at Jatujak Market here in Bangkok today. It is the southern Thai form I am told, which is of darker colour than the regular form. I am happy to say it has a few seed pods already, though I still broke out the tooth pick.
If anyone has Brachycorythis Kalbreyeri; seed or plants that they can send to me in Thailand, PM me....
Always an adventure going to the markets in Bangkok.......
Brett
thanks for your offer brett... but i think maybe i should go myself to visit bangkok - i haven't go to thailand yet... maybe can visit the market too thailand have many orchids nurseries right btw, this year i don't have any holiday plans yet. but there's the h1n1 to worry about
I am not too concerned over the swine flu. I work in a school so I think if I am going to get it, it is here LOL..... Let me know if you get to BKK... I can recommend where you might go
i think you should take some precautions. children can spread virus faster than adults anyway. maybe i just hold on my urge to holiday outside malaysia till the pandemic subsides. if anything happen to me, who is going to take care of my chids & pets?
i will let you know if i'm going to thailand. i know thailand have lots of chids!
btw, the chid is quite funny looking too... the pseudobulbs reminds me of plastic flowers!
This species of orchid is related to Habenaria I think. it dies down to a tuber after the flowering has finished and pods are done. It takes a rest during the dry season and starts up growth with the wet season.
