Default Sobralia callosa in bloom!

This is definitely the most unusual orchid I have! I bought it from Andy's at the Tamiami Show in Feb. It has very different leaves than most orchids. It kind of reminds me of bamboo. The flowers bud out of the end of the "canes". The buds formed very quickly (less than a week). Two opened this morning and luckily I took the time to click a couple pics, because they were completely wilted by nightfall! Only 1 day flowers!

Does anyone have experience with this plant? I have been growing it inside the house in a south window. It looks too delicate for the South Florida sun to me. Any suggestions for it's care?

Love this plant. Hopefully, someone with OrchidWiz will chime in here for you, Susie.

Thanks! Luckily I have 3 more buds coming. I was hoping that maybe the flowers just closed up at night, but no ... they are done, completely withered now. I am lucky I got to see them yesterday. 12 hour flowers!

Lovely! Lovely!
Here's a link mentioning that the plant needs moderate bright light. Take a look: Sobralia callosa L.O. Williams 1946

So pretty and delicate looking! I love the leaves.

OrchidWiz suggests 2000-3000 fc's but filtered or diffused lighting. Should not be exposed to direct midday sun.
