Beautiful jewels! Do they bloom for you? I know they're grown for foliage, but I find my Ludisia flowers fascinating, and I'm always amused when people say their flowers are "umimpressive."

Anyone who says that has never seen a well-grown Ludisia discolor in full bloom. Feast your eyes on this! It's a Ludisia growing in a greenhouse on campus. And it continued to get more blooms after this shot was taken!

I'm going to have to put mine in a bigger pot instead of dividing it like I planned.

Not trying to steal Orchidlover's thunder (especially since I can't take credit for that plant. Darn!). Just had to defend my beloved jewels.

some of the macodes sanderiana tried to flower on me as seedlings but i chopped off the flower stems to encourage growth instead. When they are bigger i will let them flower. None of the others have flowered yet apart from my common ludisia discolor. Will put pics up when i do get flowers though

cheers all

Watering carefully in the mornings during winter so they don't stay wet during the nights and get any fungal problems. During summer i mist them just about any time as soon as they show signs of drying.

Thanks you for explaining this to me. A while ago I bought my first Ludicia discolor and realy like that plant, but the markings on the leaves from the species you showed are pretty awesome too!
Please show us the plants again once they flower.

I was pretty surprised to find out the flowers from Ludisia discolor smelled very nicely! What about your species? Any idea?
That sound nice. I hope mine smell nice too. I don't recall my Ludisia discolor have any smell at all.
