Here are several pics of the Disa display held at the local Orchid Soc summer show in New Plymouth this weekend. As a point of interest the Disas orchids you may see at the Presidential ceremony this week all come from a local club member who has a Disa export nursery in cut flowers, a number of boxs of blooms have been ordered and sent for the inauguration ceremony.
Amazing blooms. Makes me homesick for my years in South Africa, especially the photo with the banner of Table Mountain in the background. Many happy memories of hiking up there, often encountering stands of Disas growing by (and sometimes in) the mountain streams. Thanks so much for posting those!
Absolutely breathtaking display...the way those colors are arranged and the sheer number of these amazing and unique orchids would only be possible down where you are Thank you thank you for posting...those photos made my day.
Great photos! Now if I can just coax my plants into blooming I hope to see some vivid reds in person...then again I think a road trip to S. Africa might be in order...
