Default Fairy Slipper Orchid

Here's a picture of Calypso bulbosa, the Fairy Slipper Orchid, that we found last spring while hiking in the North Cascades.

It's one thing to see them in their pots but an awesome sight to behold, seeing them in their native habitats. This one is breathtaking, so delicate. I love the name, very appropriate!

I've always loved these guys since I saw a whole field of them along the Rogue River Trail in Southern Oregon. Great shot.

To me there is nothing more beautiful than an orchid blooming where it belongs. Thanks Ron.
